(Wherein we are introduced to Kat, the druid, and we learn something very interesting about Mac's brother, Lesp)

Days 36-37

[In January 1999, Janice and I moved out of Gibraltar after a year down at the corner of Blockton and Avocado to, once again, take up residence at 229 Blockton Road. It was a brand-new house we moved into, completely repainted and carpeted. More importantly, it was all ours--we were no longer renting. That month, we gathered in what is now the War Room, but was then the new TV room, for the christening session of The Game. It was very short, only a few hours. But, it marked the first time since the game began that our number of players *increased*.

The new player was Lindsey, Janice's sister, who was only 16 at the time. She played a druidic character named "Kat" who was with Mac's caravan. Thus, she was the first character from the disk-world. She was very low level, and only had a few tricks. One of them was weather prediction, with about an 8-hour lead time back then. The big joke was that I'd never remember to check for weather until she asked... and then it was often bad. The party was often better off not using her because then, at least, the weather would be neutral!]

Still Day 36

The party is in a small town (village?) and they set up watches for the night wherever they've decided to lodge. Shortly after the group goes to sleep, Mac tells Paul (on watch) that he is going to go back to free the remaining captives by himself. He further instructs Paul to go back to the caravan and that he would meet up with the group in a week. Kat takes second watch. She is one of the three "men" who went with the rescue team, and Tanya doesn't trust her for some reason.

The next day, the party wakes up after noon, and Paul tells the party what Mac told him. The party learns a bit about Kat who explains that she can sense the presence of animals and she can even communicate with them--the less domesticated, the better. What a handy trait! Apparently Sam starts making noises about leaving the group, perhaps to help Mac? But the party convinces him to stay, and he even quells his fear of horses and rides.

After much deliberation, the party decides not to follow Mac. Significantly, Rar and the other caravaner are not for helping Mac out. Tanya is the only real holdout, but she's ultimately convinced--because it turns out that Mac really *isn't* all alone. Kat explains that Mac's backward friend/sibling/companion, Lesp, is really a werewolf, and he was the quadraped that wreaked havoc on the Dornian horsemen the night before. Apparently, Mac was hiding this information from the party. It is not known how common knowledge it is.

With that, the party packs up their gear and leaves town.

[And that's that! Not much to that game, but from here on out, it gets epic and awesome. Stay tuned!!!]
